Affordable Catholic Education is Within Reach

Priority may be given to low- and middle-income families, students with disabilities, and families transitioning from public schools. Qualification is determined by state guidelines.

The source of truth for Texas Student Unique Identifiers (also known as a UID) is your public school district (ISD) where the IEP was created. The district should have this identifier on record even if your student has been attending private school.
Parents of students who have ever attended a public school can use the TEA Student Lookup tool to find their child’s UID. Click the “Student Look Up” button at the top center of the page, then enter your child’s first name, Social Security number, and date of birth. If your child has been registered in a public school, the website will provide the UID number.
Note: This portal does not currently contain UID lookups for private school students with ISD IEPs. Private school families should contact the special education department of the ISD that completed the IEP.
If your child has only attended private school, your local public school district may be able to enter your student’s IEP information into TEA’s APEX system on your behalf, which allows them to provide a UID.
If you have exhausted all methods of obtaining a UID, you may enter “11111” followed by your ZIP code in the TEFA application to continue.
Important: The only way to ensure additional special education funding through TEFA is to have a validated IEP on file with TEA, which requires a valid Texas Unique Student Identifier (UID).
